Who is Ready to Buy the New Solarin Android Phone For 4.9 Million Naira?

Who is Ready to Buy the New Solarin Android Phone For 4.9 Million NairaSirin Labs, a startup that recently raised $72 million in venture funding from Singulariteam founder Moshe Hogeg, Kazakh businessman Kenges Rakishev, and the Chinese social networking service Renren, has launched the Solarin, a luxury smartphone that has been hugely priced for its “military-grade” security.

The new phone will cost $14,000 (fourteen thousand dollars), the BBC is reporting.

In terms of security, Solarin comes with mobile threat protection, which is designed to stop an array of device, network and application-based mobile cyberattacks. Sirin also partnered with KoolSpan, a company that specialises in mobile voice and messaging security, to build in chip-to-chip 256-bit AES encryption for Solarin. It is supposedly the same technology that militaries around the world use to protect their communications networks.

The company has also disclosed some impressive features of the phone. These include a processor with a X10 LTE (450mbps downlink, 150mbps uplink), support for 24 bands LTE compatibility and a  WiGig Wi-Fi, which pushes data transfer to 4.6Gbps. It also has a 23.8-megapixel camera, with laser autofocus and four-tone flash. The 5.5in IPS LED 2K screen couples with a sound system that uses three bass-boosted speakers. The Solarin will come in four flavours.

The first snag with the new device is the price Sirin has indicated to sell the device : $14,000, £9,500 or 4, 900,000 naira!

Although the producers are pitching a gadget that can withstand access attempt, such as the one experienced by iOS recently, experts are yet to come to terms with aligning the price with the value Solarin will offer.

Come to think of it, an 18,000 Naira minimum wage earner in Nigeria will have to save his/her full income for 22 years and six months to get one Solarin!

That is a worthy sum for some choice real estate investment! We dare to say Solarin is designed to lure class freaks and public figures who may be their  easiest suitors.

Do I hear someone ask if the phone can give direct connection to outer space? Or heaven maybe? Your guess is as good as mine.
