Damage Control! Tinashe Backtracks on Black Racism Outburst

Barely days after her bizarre claims of colourism in black communities, American singer-songwriter Tinashe has beaten a retreat and tried to shed some light on her convoluted comments.

Recall that Tinashe lit a tinderbox days ago when, in an interview with The Guardian about her upbringing and life in the music industry, she touched on the problem of acceptance in the black community.

According to the 24-year-old, whose father is Zimbabwean and mother Danish, her mixed race is partly to blame for the seeming stagnation in her career.

The 2 On singer, whose sopH0more album Joyride is set to hit the shelves soon, expressly stated that though she identifies as black, you have to be either Beyonce or Rihana to make it to the top in the music biz.

This didn’t go down well with her fans and music lovers who hauled her over the coals for blaming others for her career false starts, with many pointing out that she’d not done any work in two years.

But the Super Love songstress has taken to Twitter to clarify her stand, claiming she was taken out of context as her interview centered around her growing up and not music.

Well, everyone deserves a second chance. Lol.

Hopefully, she’ll get back to making good music and win over her fans again.
